How To Find Your Passion In Life

Fall Sweater

Do you work at a job you hate? Are you often feeling uninspired and lost? You know your true passion is somewhere out there calling. But you don’t have any idea how to get out of your current situation and really find your passion? I am here for you! I was in your shoes before.

Many people are going through life without living it. They work at the jobs they hate, date the people who aren’t even good for them and bury their passion under doubts and insecurities. I am so proud to say that I have the privilege to wake up to do what I love and love what I do. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be able to spread my wings and find my passion.

However, the journey to finally find my passion wasn’t an easy one either. Growing up, I was raised to just do well in school, get a good job and climb up the corporate ladder. I wanted to become a fashion designer or an interior designer. I knew I was born to do something creative. As I got older, I thought my passion was to be successful and to make a lot of money. Well, who didn’t? Until I had a taste of the corporate world myself. That first corporate job I had was also my last job working for someone else.

So, how can one find their passion and have the courage to pursue it?

Let me share a few of my tips with you!

Tip #1: Listen to your heart!

I recently had my aura read at an event and my aura was full of green. If you know what green stands for, it’s your heart chakra. I think it has a lot to do with me being able to live my passion and to truly be grateful for the things I have in life. It’s also because I have turned into an individual who lives with her heart. Trust me, your mind will always play tricks on you but your heart will not. Your mind will give you a million reasons why you shouldn’t or can’t do what your heart is telling you to do. Your mind will convince you NOT do something too crazy. Your heart, on another hand, will tell you all that you are destinated to become.

When I was working at my corporate job, I always found myself reading other people’s blogs and watching other people’s youtube videos during my break and thought to myself, “This is exactly what I need to be doing!”. I did my job well every day but my heart was telling me that there was more to life than this. Guess what? My heart was right!

If your heart is telling you “You need to get out of your comfort zone and live your passion”, listen to it! Chances are your heart is right. Learning to trust your gut feeling wasn’t an easy thing for me to do. It’s like riding a bike for the first time. You are going to feel scared and unbalance but once you successfully know how to ride a bike, you learn to trust yourself a lot more.

Tip #2: Don’t focus on money

Some people mistake success and passion for monetary rewards. Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have learned that money can buy you things but money is not everything. If you focus on money, you will never make enough. A mentor once told me, if you focus on living your passion and have a reason bigger than yourself, the income will eventually come. I believed him and that was the best decision I have ever made in my career.

Money is only a scoreboard. Passion is your end goal. Passion is not tangible. It can’t be measured. Ask yourself this question, what was it that you always wanted to do as a little child? What is it that truly makes you happy and fulfilled? Life is too short to be living someone else’s dream.

 Tip #3: Follow your curiosity

Things are not going to be black and white at the beginning. You have to go through a lot of trials and errors in order to find your real passion. If you are curious or interested in something, you should just try to get your feet wet. That’s the only way you would know if something is really your true calling or not. I never thought my curiosity would lead me to create my own personal brand Lipstick & Muffin Girl. I never thought my curiosity would lead me to receive an opportunity to develop my other business ventures. I never thought my curiosity will one day lead me to quit my corporate job and live my true passion of empowering women and female entrepreneurs. You see, curiosity can take you far some time if you learn how to trust yourself and your heart!

Tip #4: Care less about what other people say

In order to find your passion, you also have to zone out the white noise around you. Sometimes, people around you will not understand your dreams and your passion. That’s okay. They are your dreams, not theirs. People who don’t have enough courage to follow their dreams and live their passion will tell you not to follow yours. Again, listen to your intuition! Only you know what your heart really wants. Only you know and recognize your true calling. Don’t let anyone tell you that you dream too big! If I listen to them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Tip #5: Surround yourself with the right people

If you want to live and find your passion, you need to surround yourself with those who do the same. I consider myself a very lucky person to have a great network of mentors and friends who have been able to turn their passion and dreams into reality. They not only helped me find mine but also have been supporting me every step of the way.

Your journey to find your passion and your true calling will become easier when you surround yourself with the right support system. If you don’t have one and are looking for a group of people who are also on the same mission as you, you can join my Lipstick And Muffin Community and connect with this group of amazing individuals.

You always speak to my heart girl. I love this so much and it really resonates with me. Even though I’m a newer blogger I can tell that it will grow and I can turn my life into something I enjoy doing. When we move back to the states i honestly don’t ever want to work back into the corporate world. I don’t want to get sucked back into that lifestyle of living mindlessly. It’s so that you need to surround yourself with the right people and block out the ones discouraging you.

    Such a cute sweater!

And I love your tips – it can be hard to ignore naysayers but at the end of the day, you know yourself the best, what you enjoy and what you want to do in life and at some point, you just have to go for it otherwise you might live with regret!

Ou girl, I just looooove this post. It’s so true that monetary value is not (and should not!) be the end goal. It’s important, of course, but it shouldn’t be what drives you. Thank you so much for sharing so much positivity and inspiration! 🙂 (I also gotta point out that I absolutely adore your sweater and overlook here!)
