International Women’s Day Inspired: Beauty Essesntials

Hi everyone,

Because International Women’s Day is here and we are celebrating the power of women. I did a collaboration with Ms. Kayne from @always_kaye (Check out her awesome blog!) to promote girl power and how make up can help enhance your natural beauty through some of the very basic and easy-to-use makeup essentials.

Eyeliner: For me, eyeliner is a must have. If you are busy and need a quick make up routine in the morning that would help open up your eyes, eyeliner will be your best friend. There are many type of eyeliners out there, my favourite one is Motives Cosmetic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir. What I love is the fact that the tip of this eyeliner is very easy to control. It is also very forgiving. If this is your first time using it and make a tiny bit of mistakes, a Q-tip will be your best friend.

Here is a step-by-step break down of how I apply my eyeliner everyday. Having monolid eyes, I like to draw my eyeliner a bit thicker to make the eyes more standout.

Step 1: I usually start with the wing first

Step 2: Draw the outline (this depends on how thick you want the eyeliner to look like)

Step 3: Fill in the rest of eyeliner

Step 4: I like to finish off with my favourite mascara or falsies. My favorite mascara is Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Pumped (waterproof). This step is really important. Never wear eyeliner without applying mascara or falsies to complete the look!

Mascara:  There are many differCollage_mascara.pngent types of mascaras out there from an array of brands and price points. For me, mascara that helps keep my eyelashes curled and makes them look voluminous is ideal. My go-to mascara is L’Oreal Paris’s Voluminous Million Lashes mascara in blackest black (#630; waterproof). It’s a mascara that I’ve been using for years and have gone back to it every time despite of trying different brands. It can hold the curls of my otherwise fine eyelashes! *I also use an eyelash curler.

Face

IMG_9531Primer: I highly recommend everyone to use primer before applying any type of products on your face. Some people underestimate the power of face primer and skip this step but I suggest you not to. Primer not only reduces the size of your pores, makes sure your makeup is applied on a smooth can
vas but also protect your skin from free radicals. My favourite one is Motives Complexion Perfecting Face Primer because it also produces a matte finish when I apply my foundation on my skin.

Concealer/Foundation/Translucent Powder

If you have flawless skin, lucky you! I suggest not putting too much products on your skin unless there is something you must cover. For myself, I suffered from acne for almost all my life so it’s very important to me that my acne scars are covered without making me look caky.

My favourite concealer is Motives Liquid Concealer in Light for Yellow Undertone.

My foundation was actually customized so it matches my exact skin tone and was made to help me with my skin condition. My face started to clear upIMG_9533 after 2 weeks using it so this has been my favourite product since.

Lastly, because I have very oily skin, I like to set my liquid foundation with Motives Translucent Powder in Medium. I love about this powder is because it gives me great coverage without making me look all caked up. It also feels very light and helps maintain my skin’s natural moisture.

Kaye:

Blush. It’s a great way to add some colour and freshness in your face. I tend to gravitate around rose pink and some peach blushes partly because I find that they look more natural on my face and they give me that fresh flushed look

Lips

  1. Lip balm/Tinted Lip balm. Two words = cracked lips. Try to carry at least a lip balm in your purse/bag it will keep your lips soft and supple.
  2. Lipstick. For special occasions or a maybe a first date, lipsticks add a nice finishing touch and some colour to your look

This is just a quick list of beauty items to have in stock for your makeup kit to get you started. By all means feel free to add or substitute items you are more comfortable with. Also, please keep in my your skin type and skin undertone when you’re buying makeup. Doing so will help you identify which shades and colours work best for your look and skin.

Thank you Kaye for having me in this beauty collab! Can’t wait to have more collabs with you in the future.

What about you? What are your favorite beauty essentials?

Please leave us comments! We want to hear from you!

Happy International Women’s Day!

From Tracey with love <3
